Attorney and Owner

Dan is a trial attorney with more than 23 years’ experience. Formerly a partner in international law firms Bryan Cave and Armstrong Teasdale, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch named Dan one of the top 50 attorneys in St. Louis. In addition, he has been voted by peers and judges as a Missouri Super Lawyer the last several years. He has served as national trial counsel for various industrial-oriented companies.

Dan has defended manufacturers and others in personal-injury cases, including product liability and toxic tort cases in traditionally dangerous jurisdictions. He is national trial counsel for the world’s largest manufacturer of automobile-transport trailers, handling dozens of cases throughout the country.

Focusing on innovative, cost-effective trial-defense strategies and flat-fee arrangements, Dan helps companies reduce their product liability risk by establishing protocols for conducting day-to-day business. He understands the critical importance of venue in high-stakes litigation and has successfully used novel theories to remove cases from dangerous venues to federal court. In addition, he has argued for and obtained several forum no conveniens dismissals.

Dan provides regular counsel in disputes over catastrophic injuries and death stemming from accidents involving industrial machinery and consumer products. In these matters, he addresses damage issues such as life-care planning and vocational rehabilitation.

He works throughout the country with manufacturers of consumer goods and machinery, handling cases involving forklifts, tires, car hauling trailers, elevators, escalators, automatic doors, dock levelers, and other industrial equipment.

A certified forklift operator—trained and tested under OSHA—Dan’s detailed knowledge of forklifts has taken him to Finland, Germany and other European countries where materials handling products are manufactured for sale in the United States. As National Warehouse Products Counsel for an international forklift and material handling product manufacturer, he has obtained defense judgments and other favorable results.

With broad toxic and mass tort experience, Dan defends chemical and petrochemical companies against alleged personal injuries resulting from inhalation, ingestion, or contact with various toxic substances including welding rods, lead paint, lead ore concentrate and phosphorous pentasulfide.
